Boy Scout's Pinewood Derby

Braeden was presented a Bobcat badge in front of the Pack. He said afterwards he felt a little shy here, but also like a good Boy Scout. (Unrelated subject, but also demonstrating his awareness, he said last week that it seems like girls are smarter than boys.)

Jonah was very good, especially considering we were there for 2.5 hours. Jonah is a pretty good eater (not that you couldn't tell by the cheeks), so naturally, as soon as he spotted the cake he grabbed a fork and plate asking for a piece. We didn't serve it right away, so he toted his fork and plate around until it was time. Maybe he's getting a jump on this Boy Scout thing...."Be Prepared."
Watching the races was very entertaining for him!
Each scout raced 4 times. Braeden's is the red one.
As you can probably tell, he did not get first place this go round. He did one of the four times though (thank goodness!).
This was a very well organized event. When not racing, the kids got to make a matchbox kerchief slide and a wooden display stand for their car.
Braeden with his race car (he and Brian are already brainstorming how to increase speed for next year; send all advice their way).
