Saturday we stuck close to home (on account of B's sleep-over/late night). We rode bikes to the Mill Creek preserve. It's so awesome to have that a 10 min ride from home. It's a collection of paved trails that intertwine with wildlife preserves, fish ladder. It's a great inter-urban hike. We parked bikes and checked out the beaver dams that B and B had earlier visited with boy scouts. Then we hopped back on the bikes and checked out the fish ladders. We saw a mama duck and 5 ducklings along the way. Sunday morning we headed out to Barclay's Lake. The boys did fantastic on this 4 mile hike which was quite muddy on account of the snow that was melting on and around the trail. The hiking poles have never been handier as we made our way through the mud and snow. We found this great spot at the lake to enjoy lunch. This first picture is of a red crested wood pecker (that's probably not the official name).
