Boy Scout Bike Rodeo

The boys had a ball at the Cub Scout bike rodeo.
They had newspaper delivery, a ramp, slowest race, stop on a dime and of course bike helmet and tire safety checks.

Braeden gets ready to do the newspaper run. Each boy took a first newspaper from a parent and had to aim it into a bucket, repeating that two more times. We go on lots of bike rides, several miles long, but we're always going fast. He did not look at ease at the idea of having to let go of his handle bars and grab the newspaper. He ended up taking them and then throwing them as fast as possible like he was playing hot potato. He didn't even aim, it made for a priceless memory.

They also had a bicycle police officer come to share road safety tips.

Jonah had a ball riding around and watching the big boys. He keeps asking me when he's Braeden's age and he gets to ride the red bike with the black seat and no training wheels, can he be in boy scouts and ride over "bumps" (ramp). He also entertained himself by driving through the bumpy gravel, coasting backwards down an incline and going fast. Just what every mother wants!
At the end, Braeden headed up to this big dirt pile with some friends and peered over the edge, urging the other to go first. They thought it was fun after getting over the intial fear.

  1. Those daring young boys on their 2-wheeling machines scare me! Good to learn now while
they're not that far off the ground.
    Be safe boys!
